Post-Operative Considerations
- Initial flap sutures are removed at 5 days
- No special dressings recommended
- Consider using petroleum-based ointments twice daily along incision line. Avoid topical antibiotic ointments/creams (ex: Polysporin) as these can cause a significant erythema reaction
- Scar massage and application of silicone products once incisions have healed (only after 3 months post-op)
- Consider dermabrasion 6 weeks after procedure
- Consider steroid injections for pin-cushioning or trap door deformities
- Dermabrasian can be used where scarring is problematic
